Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
ChefPicks (chefpicks.ca) is a kitchen appliance review site. We keep the data we collect to the minimum needed to run the site and answer your messages, and this page explains — in plain terms — what that involves and the rights you have under Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, Law 25.
What we collect
- Usage and analytics data. When you visit, our analytics tool records things like the pages you view, roughly where you're connecting from (derived from your IP address), and your device and browser type. This is used in aggregate to understand what's useful and improve the site — see the Analytics section below.
- Messages you send us. If you write to us through the contact page or by email, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you put in the message.
We do not run user accounts, we do not ask for payment details (purchases happen on the retailer's own site, not ours), and we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to measure site traffic. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data (including your IP address and device information) on our behalf, and Google may store and process that data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. We use it only for aggregate audience measurement — not for advertising.
You can control or refuse cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on. For details on how Google handles data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link on ChefPicks, you leave our site and are sent to a third-party retailer — usually Amazon.ca. Once you're there, that retailer's own privacy policy governs any information it collects, including any cookies it uses to attribute a purchase. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how those links work.
Who we share data with
The only third parties involved are the service providers named above: Google, which processes our analytics data, and Amazon, when you choose to follow a link to Amazon.ca. We share information with them only to the extent described here, and we don't disclose your personal information to anyone else except where required by law.
How long we keep it
Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings we configure in Google Analytics.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA — and, if you live in Quebec, Law 25 — you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Because we hold very little, this is usually as simple as emailing us. To make a request, contact us and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
ChefPicks is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For any questions about how we handle your data, please contact us.
